Galm rock, boybands, Infested, bickering ex-lovers, and some new old additions are coming for Warframe. The latest Devstream unveiled a torrent of new content that proves to be far more than a post-show party for fans of the online sci-fi adventure. Digital Extremes took to the airwaves today for a run-down of everything coming in the latest update to Warframe. Headlined by the Technocyte Code, here’s everything that has us hyped for the Techrot Encore update.
Technocyte Coda
Taking to the stage at the head of this update is the Technocyte Coda. Originally slated for a release in December with Warframe 1999, this system outgrew that initial timeframe, and it’s taken until now to release. Thankfully, it’s totally worth it! For the uninitiated, the Technocyte Coda is an adversary system featuring Infested versions of Kuva Liches and Sisters of Parvos. Players looking to leap headlong into the new system will want to forge ahead and ensure that their Hex quest is complete as you can only have one adversary at a time. Don’t worry if that makes little sense right now. The important part is that this instanced re run and range of Infested adversaries looks incredible and brings a ton of rewards to the table.
Players leaping in might notice that when they pick a path and decide to take on a new Infected, they’ll see a new cosmetic aberration of sorts. Leaping back into Höllvania to vanquish or convert your chosen adversary and you’ll not only dispose of this Infection, but creep towards grabbing some enticing rewards, like the eight new Ephemira. I’m a particular fan of these cosmetic clip ons. From heart bursting animations to some epic speaker styled shoulders. They’re the perfect musical fashion frame accessory, even if I’m not entirely sold on every one of these rewards.
New Protoframes
Say hello to Velimir II, Minerva, and Kaya! Two bickering ex-lovers and a Nova that must be protected at all costs. The three newest Protoframes advance the story in the Techrot Encore, arriving to track down the enigmatic Victor. Velimir II and Minerva are adoptive parents of Warframe: 1999 antagonist Major Rusalka. They drop into the action looking for Rusalka and bringing trouble with them, while all done up in badass leather and fur. This pair of formidable warriors are as well versed in their own personal animosity as much as blowing away Infested, meaning players will need to dive back into the retro styled KIM system to play therapist and hopefully drag them through to an amicable conclusion. Could it prove to be the undoing of an all-powerful space ninja. Might want to just send me back to the New War for a break.
Kaya, however, is here thanks to the wonders of modern science. A new Nova, she can twist and play with the flow of time and Victor may not lay a hand on this one. While the aforementioned Velimir II and Minerva are all badass, Kaya is an unusual mix of teen grunge and high science proto-wear. From the leg warmer aesthetic and sneakers through the two stickers plastered across her armor, the design is more than just a cute collection of ideas.
Temporal Archimedea
Find Kaya, Minerva, and Velimir II loitering in a run-down pub, bar for you in the new world, in the Central Mall area to find out why those stickers are so impressive. Aside from adding a bit of light relief to an otherwise doom laden pre future, the new stickers are a central part of the brand new Temporal Archimedea. This new content plays on the establish Archimedea idea, and Kaya can open the door
Partner with Minerva and Velimir II and take on three randomly selected missions back-to-back. Much like Deep Archimedea, these new missions unfurl providing challenging content, but this time they’re all based in 1999. They add in plenty of modifiers and options to make things more difficult for yourself, while increasing rewards. Challenge yourself to the Elite Archimedea, but don’t worry. The Peely Pix will help smooth over some of the cracks in your defence. What might end up looking like cosmetic add ons are actually components giving players boosts and bonuses when charging into battle. Pop a sticker on your mission, earn more, and collect the artwork that comes straight out of the Warframe community. While we didn’t get all the names. It’s an incredible nod to the creator community, weaving these custom creations into the action.
Flare
Also found kicking back in the background of this bar you’ll hear the work of Flare, AKA Temple. A glam rock star beset by tragedy and determined to become the ultimate work of art, transcending the boundaries of gender and biology alike, Flare is quite the sideways move from fictional boy bands. Fans who’ve been paying attention will already know that the rock band Periphery were involved in bringing Flare and Temple’s genius to life, and the 60th Warframe is something of a must get for anybody who likes big shiny loud things.
Clearly inspired by the likes of David Bowie, Flares transformation into Temple is befitting iconic glam rock. The song that plays out across the mall is just a hint of the huge shoulders, shiny red livery and wild aesthetic that make this an utterly unusual Warframe. Almost the antithesis to concrete clad radiation tanks, looking at you Qorvex, Temple wields a sapient, Infested guitar named Lizzie as an Exalted Weapon capable of firing projectiles at the pluck of a string and transforming into a flamethrower for a limited time. Check out the Dev Stream for the full run down on how exactly Temple works, but you’ll be able to wield Lizzy and utilise a powerful rotation of fire abilities. Lizzie doesn’t just wield powerful attacks but a mean personality. Listen closely and you’ll hear Lizzie, Flare, and Temple interact, it’s a hot addition to the limited roster of heat focused Warframes. Everything from a Mohawk styled helmet to the glorious looking signature pistol make Temple a truly special Warframe.
If you want to see Temple in action before picking up this standout Warframe then there’s also a new twist on the traditional Defense mission. Techrot Encore will add a new instance where players must defend Flare as they put on a memorial concert for the bandmates lost to the Scaldra’s oppressive rule of the city. Spanning powerful enemies from a range of recent and past content, you’ll need to keep a stage, yes, a literal stage, free as the music reaches a crescendo and the final member of The Rippers blows away Victor.
Keeping on a musical footing, Tenno can also open their ears to the sound of Warframe. Digital Extremes will be opening up tickets on March 7 exclusively for the “TennoConcert” in Southwestern Ontario’s biggest arena – Canada Life Place. These tickets will also grant access to a TennoLive keynote watch party at the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel alongside the in-game TennoCon 2025 Digital Pack. If you missed the TennoCon in person e vent tickets, this is an opportunity to meet and greet other Ten no, then share in an evening of epic noise!
More than all of this, Techrot Encore drops in a stunning new Dex cosmetic and even enhances the existing Höllvania Mall Hub arcade collection. Spinning off from, and expanding on, the Make-A-Wish commitment to James Conlin, there’s a rainbow road inspired you’ve got to check out the Mario kart inspired Atomicycle mini game that’s got to be seen to be believed.
There’s so much more than this in the techrot Encore update. If you though it was all Infested boybands then strap in for the full Devstream update. Techrot Encore is coming to all available Warframe platforms on 19 March 2025, and it’ll cost you nothing. Find out more on the official website now.
