Taylor Swift’s Brother Austin and Natalie Portman Have N.Y.C. Meetup

Natalie Portman and Austin Swift had an impromptu meetup in New York City!

Portman, 44, and Swift, 33, were photographed mingling with a group in N.Y.C.’s Tribeca neighborhood on Monday, July 21, as Portman continues to film her upcoming movie with Lena Dunham, Good Sex.

The Academy Award-winning actress appeared to share a laugh with Austin, Taylor Swift‘s younger brother, and others on the street. Portman wore denim shorts, a dark t-shirt and a bag on her right side for the outing, while Austin wore an indigo-colored flannel shirt and dark pants.

Portman, who generally lives in France with her children Aleph, 14 and Amalia, 8 — she shares them with ex-husband Benjamin Millepied — was recently photographed filming her new movie with director Dunham, 39, and costar Rashida Jones in N.Y.C. on July 15. The actors were spotted filming scenes in a park that saw them purchasing hot dogs and as they lounged behind the camera with Dunham and the movie’s crew.

“After spending a decade in a failed relationship, pragmatic couples’ therapist Ally is turning 40 and reluctantly dipping her toe back into the New York dating scene,” reads an official Netflix synopsis for Good Sex. “But she gets more than she bargained for when she meets two men- one in his twenties and one in his fifties- who show her there is no set formula for good sex.”

Meg Ryan, Tramell Tillman and Mark Ruffalo also star in Portman, Jones and Dunham’s new movie together. While it does not appear that Portman and Swift’s meet-up was related to the movie’s production, Dunham coincidentally told Variety in a July 8 interview that she pitched Portman on Good Sex while the women attended one of Taylor’s “Eras Tour” concerts in London in summer 2024. “I decided, it’s now or never, and I’m going to shoot my shot. She couldn’t be a lovelier person,” Dunham told Variety of Portman. “Shout-out Taylor — thank you for that. She brings everyone together; she makes the world go round.”

Taylor’s brother Austin is an actor and producer in his own right: he appeared in eight onscreen roles between 2016 and 2019 and most recently co-produced the 2021 movie I Am Mortal. He previously dated model Sydney Ness.

“I’m pretty reserved in most circumstances, so it never seemed like it would be a good fit,” Austin told PEOPLE of pursuing acting back in 2018. “But I kind of got thrust into it and realized that it could be an opportunity to be creative.”

Portman’s Good Sex does not yet have a release date; she most recently appeared in the adventure movie Fountain of Youth.
