Kyle Richards gave fans an update on how things are going at her Encino, California, home amid her separation from her husband, Mauricio Umansky. And let’s just say, things have been better.
In 2017, Richards and Umansky paid $8.3 million for their seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom Encino estate once owned by legendary Motown singer Smokey Robinson, according to Page Six. Following the couple’s split in 2023, Richards stayed in the house while Umansky moved into a condo in West Hollywood.
On Aug. 26, Richards told fans on an Amazon Livestream that a few things in the house had broken down nearly two years after Umansky moved out.
“The air conditioning on the ground floor of my house here is not working,” “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star told fans on the video stream. “The [repair] guys have come out three days in a row. There’s, like, a part they have to get. So, I’m dying, basically, sitting here.”
“We’ve had no hot water in the house for three days,” she added. “So, I go to shower in the guest house.”
Kyle Richards Compared Her Real-Life Situation to a 1970s TV Show
GettyOn her livestream, Richards jokingly compared her bathroom situation to “Little House on the Prairie.” The former child star appeared in the NBC period drama from 1975 to 1982, playing Alicia Sanderson Edwards, per IMDb.
“Every time I feel like I’m in the ‘Little House on the Prairie,’ where they go to the outhouse,” Richards said. “I have to get all my things and carry it and walk outside. It’s a really nice guest house. It just feels weird having to leave my house to walk outside to go to the shower. But that’s what we’ve been doing for three days. So between the no air conditioning and the no hot water, it’s… I don’t know. It’s interesting.”
Kyle Richards Previously Revealed That Mauricio Umansky Did the ‘Heavy Lifting Things’
Richards previously opened up about taking care of the large house now that she lives there alone.
During an appearance on the “B*tch Bible” podcast in May 2024, she described Umansky’s move-out day as “weird.” “I always knew that when that day came, it would feel strange, you know, very real all of a sudden, and that’s exactly what happened,” she recalled to host Jackie Schimmel. “It’s been an adjustment for sure.”
She also noted that her husband of 29 years took care of a lot of things around the house when they lived together. “You know, I’m like looking at my house thinking like, I mean, I literally have learned nothing,” she said.
“I’m looking around my house, I’ve actually gone and made a list,” the RHOBH star added. “I don’t do like, like rain gutters. Oh, I’m sorry. Like, do I have to think about that stuff now? Honestly, I didn’t even know they were called that. And I’m like, I have to think, I mean, those are my job? Am I gonna pick up a leaf blower? No, I’m not picking up a leaf. I mean, I guess I will. We have one.”
Richards clarified that her husband never considered himself to be a handyman, but that he did the “heavy lifting things” around the house.
