Anthony Rizzo came to the Yankees in 2021. However, the final seasons of his time in the Bronx were full of injuries, and his numbers saw a drastic decline. Rizzo played in 370 games for the Yankees, but FanSided’s Jake Elman predicted he would not play in MLB again.
“A 2023 concussion ended Rizzo’s prime, and he managed only eight home runs in 375 plate appearances last year,” wrote Elman. “Rizzo will nonetheless leave baseball as an all-around good guy who earned the 2017 Roberto Clemente Award for the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation’s work in fighting childhood cancer.”

Rizzo finished his career with three All-Star selections, four Gold Glove Awards, a Platinum Glove Award, a Silver Slugger Award and one World Series ring. Now, 36, Rizzo does not seemingly have any teams looking to sign him.
He has not officially retired from baseball, and noted last offseason that he does want to play again. However, after failing to sign in the offseason and throughout the season, his chances of putting on a big league uniform again seem slim.
When he does officially retire, Rizzo will be remembered as a member of the Chicago Cubs and a key player in bringing a World Series back to Chicago. He hit 303 home runs in his career, including 60 for the Yankees.
