Dodgers-Rockies rain delay: Coors Field interrupted by weather Wedneday

The middle game between the Dodgers and Rockies on Wednesday night was delayed by rain at Coors Field in Denver, halting play with two outs in the top of the sixth inning.

Arguably, play should have been halted a few pitches earlier as heavy rain was starting to fall, and with lightning in the area. But with two outs and two Dodgers in scoring position, the umpires tried to get through the frame. Instead, a relatively harmless popup by Max Muncy that should have been the final out of the inning dropped untouched, allowing the first two runs of the game to score.

Forecasts in Denver show scattered thunderstorms through roughly 9 p.m. MT, a little over an hour after play was stopped.

This is the fourth Dodgers game this season delayed by rain, which doesn’t include April 6 in Philadelphia, when Tyler Glasnow was completely flummoxed by the weather and mound conditions.
