Survive the main stair case and definitely don’t go looking for the dining hall in this hotel horror from Genie Interactive Games. The Cecil: The Journey begins is available now, on Steam priced at $19.99 (or regional equivalent). The tense survival sim invites players to check into a hotel where the guest rooms come with bars, the residents don’t seem friendly, and you might make it out if you’re really sneaky.
First announced in earlier in the year, this break gone wrong follows newlyweds who check into an establishment that might’ve seen better days, settle down to sleep, and wake up locked up. players follow John as he comes to consciousness in a dark cell and must escape to find his companion in this trip. Escape the other inmates, don’t arouse suspicion. Solve puzzles and explore a creepy set of corridors on your way to freedom.
Mixing Amnesia, Resident Evil, and other gritty horror vibes, The Cecil gives us a look at what’s ahead in a brand new trailer. To compound your fear, the team behind this title has asked player to share their in game screams. There’s a social media competition with the chance to win an exclusive merch box featuring a hand-signed surprise from the game’s solo developer. Hopefully, not an actual hand signed hand, but you never know.
