Boxed Out, a hybrid arcade puzzle shooter is a new entry on Meta Quest platforms that puts you right at the heart of a blocky adventure.

Grip your gun and shoot to survive but not like you might expect. The arcade block busting Boxed Out brings a new twist to VR puzzles and it’s available on the Meta Quest platform now. The immersive, brightly colored match and blast puts players at the heart of the action, a colorful room with no exits. The only other problem, you’ll need to find a way out before getting crushed.

Assorted cubes in a variety of hues creep towards you and the only way to survive is to create matches of the same color. Watch matched sets explode, keeping you in the game and in one piece. Like putting players in the middle of a match 3 horror story, this brain teaser comes with a total of 36 variations of this idea to play. Different difficulties speed, and complexity are all navigated using handheld gun that will allow you to change the color of a cube, add new cube and push nearby objects. Thankfully, survival isn’t the only reason to keep playing. A Solitaire mode exists too, filling a room with cubes and giving players their own time to clear the mess.

Coming out of UK indie studio Red Chain Games, this mix of match 3 titles, and first-person VR adventures is surprisingly unique ion the market. If you’re looking for a puzzle that gets up close and personal, then head over to the Meta Quest storefront and plug in for around £6.99 or local equivalent.
