You may have your favorite pizza place in Massachusetts; it may even have a high rating by that Barstool guy.
Has it been visited by Guy Fieri, though?
One particular establishment in Massachusetts that was featured on Fieri’s famous food-travel show, “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives,” was just called a gem of a restaurant by Food Network.
“Here’s a gem from each state — plus DC! — to celebrate more than 40 seasons of Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives, from fan-favorites still beloved years after being on TV to those Triple D spots with the most unique flavors,” Food Network said.
Here’s the restaurant that was featured on the Food Network list and how it’s doing now.
Dirty Water Dough Co. – Boston, Massachusetts
Food Network chose Dirty Water Dough Company in Boston, Massachusetts, because their use of eclectic pizza toppings like gorgonzola, caramelized onions, and sliced steak marinated in Coca Cola.
Here’s what Food Network had to say about it: “Don’t worry. Dirty Water Dough Co. doesn’t use dirty water in the pizza dough. But they do use beer. Guy visited the Boston, Massachusetts, spot during Season 30 and was blown away by the funky toppings and unusual fare. Owned by Sam Sokol and Luigi Barrasso, the restaurant now has a second location and the toppings are just as funky, from Steak ‘n Cola to a brunch-inspired pizza. On the show, Guy loved the Dirty Taco pizza so much that he called his family.”
Dirty Water Dough Company has two locations in Boston, one at in Back Bay at 222 Newbury St. and another in East Boston at 20 Maverick St., and they have a few different offerings at each location, while having mostly the same menu.
At the Back Bay location, their unique selection is the Sammy’s Brunch Pizza, which is only available on weekends and has mozzarella, sunny-side-up egg, sausage, bacon as well as green pepper and other toppings.
The East Boston spot’s special item is the Burgah Bomb, which is a pizza with marinated beef, a cheddar mix, mozzarella, ketchup, mustard and other burger ingredients (except pickles).
There are also other items unique to each location, like more sandwiches, entrees, and beyond. You can check out their menus on their website.
