’28 Years Later’ Is Coming to Netflix. Here’s When to Watch

28 Years Later, the third release in Danny Boyle’s iconic zombie franchise, premiered in theaters earlier this year. Just in time for spooky season, the hit horror movie is coming to streaming — and it’s happening this week.

Over two decades ago, Boyle partnered with Alex Garland to bring 28 Days Later to life. It was followed by the sequel, 28 Weeks Later, in 2007. Instead of your typical undead fare, the franchise features a new type of threat: Running zombies infected with a biological weapon known as the Rage Virus. 

Jodie Comer, Alfie Williams, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Sam Locke, Erin Kellyman and Ralph Fiennes star in 28 Years Later, the first in a new trilogy of movies. The next installment, The Bone Temple, is set to premiere in early 2026, so now’s the perfect time to catch up.

Streaming release date for 28 Years Later

28 Years Later will premiere on Netflix on Saturday, Sept. 20. If you’re interested in starting the franchise from the beginning, you can stream 28 Days Later (which used to be out of print and hard to find) for free on Pluto TV; 28 Weeks Later is on Hulu.

Netflix has three tiers to choose from: the ad-based plan, which costs $8 a month, the Standard plan, which is $18 a month, and the streamer’s Premium plan, priced at $25 a month.
